The New Year's Party

Here are my three takeaways after reading this fun new short story by Daniel Hurst:

1.You may  ... or may NOT want to tell some people your New Year's resolutions.

2. Add playing "fun games" to the list of things never to do with a stranger.

3. If you foolishly disregard the first two, then at least remember the most basic rule of playing games: Don’t cheat!

Three couples - Andy and Carrie, Phil and Kath, Martin and Michaela - strangers to one another - sit at a table at a fancy annual New Year’s party.  In the course of conversation, Martin asks each of them one simple question:

What are your New Year's resolutions?

And thus begins the game. I recommend you read this very quick story and find out who - if anyone - wins.

Daniel Hurst once again confirms for me that he’s great at writing twisty suspense. This is my second story of his and he's nailed them both. At only 51 pages, this is a great way to find out for yourself!

Happy New Year's Eve everyone!
